Carbon Fiber Cases

Greetings all,

Don't worry, I did do an exhaustive search before I decided to start this thread. I came across many options for carbon fiber cases but it didn't seem like there was any common case recommendation.

Below are the options I have found. They are organized in the order I am most likely to choose based on the comments in this thread.

I'm pretty intrigued by the Element Case Vapor Pro Black. It looks really sturdy. Plus, the reseller I'd be buying it from (one in link), is located right down the street from where I work so I could pick it up during a lunch break. Obviously, I wouldn't get it solely based on that.

The other cases are quite nice too. I like those minimal ones that are 100% carbon fiber. The first carbon fiber case I found was the Dro Concepts one and I was very close to ordering when I read some threads where people had bad experiences. Also, I am not sure I like that clip in the middle of the Dro case, seems like it would make it wobble on a table or fit into my Pro Clip holder in my car awkwardly.

One thing about all my options for cases is that the headphone port needs to be completely accessible meaning, it's not recessed in any way. I have wildly expensive and high quality in ear monitors with a custom made cable and I wouldn't want to use an adapter because that would introduce a weak link in the chain and potentially nullify the benefits of the custom headphone cord.

Thoughts? I'm open to other carbon fiber case recommendations as well if anybody has any others I missed.

The DRO is pretty sweet looking. I like the looks of the element, but for 150 bucks? Dunno about that. I sortof set a cap for myself of 90 dollars for any one case...and I've had some pretty snazzy ones under that cap.

I was speaking with a dealer who used to sell Dro and he stated that their quality really dropped as well as their service. That backed up what other posts have said about Dro. Too bad because they have a nice design.

$150 is definitely pushing it for me. I won't go any higher than that. Cheap cases have served me well over the years but I really like high tech materials and designs so $150 range is not unreasonable to me.

Uhmm..... why is Element Vapor Pro on the list? It's not a true CF case -- only the backplate is CF. They make very nice cases, but you don't have to limit yourself to Vapor Pro. Just get a Vapor COMP (starts at $99) and get a Element's CF backplate for it (most COMPs come with suede standard except for Stealth versions).

Anyhow, I'd say either go with #2 in matte or Element Vapor COMP Stealth (I have black/red).

My mistake on the Element Vapor. You are correct in that the back plate is carbon fiber. A mix of metals and carbon fiber is fine with me.
