iPod iPod battery monitor?

I tried to find a utility to view the charge/battery status of my iPod when it is plugged into my computer. The reason being is my screen got smashed a while back and I have no way of telling the charge on the iPod itself.

Does anyone know of a utility for mac that will allow me to see the progress of the charge on my desktop/dock or anything?
