That is an insensitive comment.
Sure the say solution is to eat less. But many other factors are involved - social, and physical and mental health are just a few. And we have stigma in the US about addressing mental health issues.
On the social side, just add to the toll that an obese person feels about their own self image from comments as yours. Self control may help, but a positive, supportive community would go a long way to help those that are obese and want a change for the good - to get it.

why is it okay to tell a smoker to stop smoking because it's gross and unhealthy, but it's a social injustice to tell a fat person to stop eatting so much?

Based on the medical evidence that smoking may be more addictive than cocaine. maybe yes. Negative comments like this show the lack of individual understanding of any addiction. Legal or otherwise. Especially legal. Shame on you....

I think its still too early to tell whether its a crazy move. but I think it would be better to name it as a desktop replacement rather than a laptop.

I really cant see myself ever carrying around something this large but I bet it will still sell as a desktop replacement. More screen to use is always a nice feature.
on the topic of obesity, watch out who you make fun of b/c obesity isnt just a US thing ---> business week article (http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/apr2005/nf20050419_5664_db089.htm?campaign_id=rss_daily)

Makes you wonder how long it will take for the laptops to return to something the size and weight of a kaypro...

wow - a 19" dell  ... that's gonna be the most clumsy, heavy and least portable laptop created the last 15 years... I really, really doubt the famous dell design team can live up to the big task...

Would it not be easier just to get a 20" iMac? It wouldn't be much less mobile than a 19" laptop.
Anyway, speaking of all-in-ones - has anyone seen Sony's VAIO V517G/V520G desktops? http://www.sonystyle.com/intershoproot/eCS/Store/en/lc/vaio/pdfs/V517G_spec.pdf I saw one in CompUSA recently, and it's one ugly monster, 5" or 6" thick.

A 19" laptop would be a real pain to carry around. Plus there would be alot of drawbacks like: 20 min battery life, it would not fit in the average person's lap confortably, plus its a Dell.
