Actually I'm looking for electro, electro-breaks and electro-funk. Afrika bambaataa and soul sonic force come to mind, but I'm looking for more. If you know of artists, dj mixes or compilations that would be great.

thanks

From where? A store or download?
I really like the new Tiefschwarz record - Misch Masch. make sure you get the double CD with a load of remixes. A number of people on here, me included like Ladytron.

Streetsounds electro compilations have loads of the old school stuff and i think they were all reissued a while back, or have at least been available in various incarnations for many years. Coldcut's 70 minutes of madness (Journeys by DJs) is without a doubt the best mixtape ever, bar none, and has plenty of classic electro moments from their own back catalogue.

I'm totally in support of the Coldcut mixCD... outstanding!

if you're into Electro, you might check out the following

- Anthony Rother
- Audiowerk
- Jedi Knights
- Dopplereffekt
- Andrea Parker

and of course... KRAFTWERK!!!

some suggestions could be (most you probably know):

dynamix II
dj fast eddie (eg. acid thunder)
the streetsounds electro vinyl sets
stuff from the acid trax vinyl label eg. frankie knuckles
old miami bass/detroit stuff
model 500
juan atkins
claude young

these are some names that spring to mind. its all from c. 1990 and i'm just going from memory of what i liked back then. if you're looking for more comtemporary stuff i don't know, sorry. it may be of interest checking out some of this old stuff too though.

Some recent favorite electionica (lower-key than electro-dance)...

+ Cities of Foam
+ Jens Buchert
+ Blue Six
+ Orbient
+ Florian

+ Bossacucanova - Not really electronica, but, an electronic-lounge treatment of bossa nova style music. Pretty cool.

+ Pinback. This is considered an alternative rock band, but, I really love their music. Check out "Penelope" and "Fortress," two of their biggest hits.

If you like Africa Bambaattaa, they did a collaboration with Uberzone on the album Faith In The Future. Uberzone has other funky stuff on that album too. It's not what I'm into, but for you it's worth checking out.
