Same here...

Work puts me online for lots of things:
speccing out hardware/software, testing webpages, checking online discussion and support pages

And then my classes have syllabi and class schedules posted online...

And then my consulting is in web design, so I'm online testing my sites...

And then to relax I come here whenever I can...

God, I love broadband! :D

I think this poll forgot an option. The missing option is "Too many."

I do computer work, so I pretty much have a web browser open all day.

I'm always connected, but I'm not always surfing. I probably spend upto 4 hours online during the week and less on the weekend.

I spend about 10 hrs online every Tuesday and Thursday since I have a campus job but on the whole, it averages out to about 5 hrs daily. Weekends are spent offline mostly unless all my friends go out of town or I have a ton of homework.

my full-time job consists entirely of searching for people on the internet, so there's 8 hours right there...

when i come home, though, i get to look at sites that interest me, so add another couple of hours a day.

On dial-up, gotta stay on longer than I want.

With DSL or cablemodem, might stay on longer.

Give me 10 years free with a t1-line and I wouldn't have to stay on much at all.

When I voted I specifically tried to represent active WWW use. I use other software (email clients, etc.) that use the internet but not a browser. Is such differentiation still being made? That is, if you have a cable connection and your computer is on 24 hours/day you're spending 24 hours connected to the Internet but not necessarily on the web. Is the web just http? Thoughts?

Welcome to my world. :)

On weekdays I have homework, so I get in around 2 or 3 hours.

But on weekends I make that up with about six hours S/S. Sometimes Acquisition is a big help with large files, or just downlading the latest build of Mozilla. :p

then late at night Mon-Fri...I'm usually on a good 3-4 hours...depending on what's going on...usually up till 1 am...

weekends...I'm rarely around though...

When I'm at university during the week, sometimes not at all, but generally around 1-2. At the weekends or during the holidays, maybe 2-3. I don't really see the reason to spend more time online, as I've got a lot of work to do outside the internet, and a lot of socialising to catch up on when I'm off uni! There's only so much I can do on the internet before I get bored. :o

That depends on if I'm at uni or back home. when I'm in the dorms in the sh**hole town I'm studying in, I end up being on for 6 - 12 hours, because there's little else to do. When I'm back in my hometown, I find I usually spend 2 - 5 hours online daily, which is still too much, but drastically less.

In common with many posters, my answer is "way too much time and far too many hours". I got broadband a few years ago, which transformed my online habits, but as I have taught online and do a lot of researching and writing in all of my jobs, I tend to spend a lot of work time (and leisure time) online. In fact, six-eight hours a day would not be unusual, but it varies, especially at the week-ends.

Cheers and good luc

I think the real question for me is how often I'm NOT online. If I'm out with friends, working a part-time job or just hanging out outside doing things non-computer related (cigars, horseracing and handicapping, etc.), I'm NOT online. If I'm researching things or am learning new things (I'm constantly online reading and researching philosophy, religion, culture, psychology, politics, computers, etc), which is at least half of my day, I AM online. I spend my free time online too.

I would charge a standard fee. Although there should be an extra charge due to the detail of the site. Also, due to the nature of the economy you might just want to accept his offer.

Oh it's scary to think about how many hours I may spend online in a given day. Most of my work is on a computer so I always have a web browser open even if not using it at the moment. I'd say 4+ hrs are spent at work online either researching or just surfing then I go home and use my :apple: for another 1-2 hrs checking all the stuff I can't at work (social networking, music, and such).
