VPN problems

So I have 2 issues with VPN on my iPod touch.

1. There seems to be no way to remember a password (this is a Cisco VPN). Even though I typed it when installing the profile, it prompts me every time.
2. VPN turns OFF every time I put my iPod to sleep. Not just disconnected, but actually off. So every time I unlock the screen, I have to go back into settings, turn it on, and retype my password.

Is there anything I can do to make this more of an actually usable feature?
