Hey all!

I just purchased an OEM Intel 320 160Gb, and it doesn't come with an attached spacer like its retail brother. As a result, without the spacer, the OEM version has a height of 7mm.

From the best of my knowledge, I understand that the drive is secured in placed by screws and not by its physical body and was wondering if there is anyone that can confirm that a 7mm drive can be safely used in an MBP?

Thanks twice over,
Jtabije!

That's fine, it does simply attach by the screws in the side, so height isn't an issue, provided you have a unibody MBP.

Thanks for the reply!

I successfully installed the SSD, installed a fresh copy of Snow, updated the firmware, and enabled TRIM. Everything was smooth as butter. 🙂

Just to clarify...no spacers or anything like that were needed to keep the SSD firmly inside the MBP? I'm thinking of getting a 7mm Samsung 830, and I was a bit worried the 7mm size would make it incompatible.
