I have a late 2008 MBP with OSX lion I am selling and I want to securely remove all the info on the hd. If I boot into the recover partition and do a secure erase will that be sufficient?

Or should I boot from the recovery CD and do a secure erase of both the recovery partition and the partion the os is installed on?

Boot off of your Leopard/Snow Leopard disc and wipe everything. You don't want to be giving away a copy of Lion that's tied to your account do you?

A secure erase from the Recovery Partition will do what you need. There is nothing personal left on the Recovery Partition.
