Can songs get corrupted by transferring from iPod to computer?

I got a new iPid touch so I transfers music from my old iPod to my computer than onto my new iPod. I used copy tans program. Anyway yesterday I was listening to a song yesterday I realized it skipped in one part but playing on my iTunes it plays fine. I then wound up buying the song myself just do I could fix the problem. Do u think the song was already corrupt or no? I would think transferring is same as copying files like you do on a computer.

Maybe a second. It was a double skip an then it played rest of the track
