Hi, all-

I am looking to buy an Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver that has an ethernet input and use HDMI v1.4 cables that support, amongst other things, ethernet networking through hdmi. Has anyone tried using this as a means to connect the ATV2 to the internet rather than a separate ethernet cable? Just trying to get rid of any redundant cables as I improve my home theater setup.

The Apple TV does not support Ethernet over HDMI.

Thanks for the super quick info. Bummer, though.

hi,

Can the ATV2 act like a HUB to connect to network an AV via ethernet?

In sum, I need to connect my Onkyo TX-NR609 to the network and was thinking to use ATV2 to do it.

Thanks,

Filipe

No. Since it doesn't do ethernet over hdmi, it won't send a network to your ONKYO. I have the Onkyo 709 and use an ethernet cable to an airport extreme.
