What's the best FREE Python IDE available on Mac OS X (10.4)? I searched in the forums as well as on the Internet and found Wing, but it's a commercial product. :(

Unfortunately, Active Python from ActiveState.com is not available for Mac OS X (I used to use this on Windows).

Have you tried:

SPE :

or
Eric :

(I am currently using BBEdit, though)

You can use eclipse
http://www.eclipse.org

and use the PyDev plug-in:
http://www.pydev.sourceforge.net

PyDev is a Python IDE for Eclipse. It features an editor, code completion, code assistant, templates, code coverage, refactoring, outline view, debugger, and other goodies (check the homepage for more info!!).

I second the vote for Eclipse with PyDev.

And.. (at least on Windows) I use Boa Constructor to build GUI front-ends.

If only the Boa gui builder was integrated into PyDev...wow!
