The Dell works fine but I would like to get rid of it and go totally Mac if possible, but I'd like to sell it for enough that I pay about the same for the iMac as I would pay for the Dell LCD. Anyways, here are the specs:
Dell Optiplex GX150 Desktop
1.4GHz Pentium III-S with 512kB L2 Cache
512MB RAM (maxed out)
80GB HD
NEC Region Free/Lock Free Dual Layer 16x DVD Burner
Belkin Firewire 400 Card
M-Audio Audiophile Sound (This is a high end digital sound card)
ATI Radeon 7200 Graphics 32MB DDR (I believe, have to double check later)
802.11G/B/A Wireless LAN 3Com USB Adapter
System runs smoothly, only gripes, after the CPU upgrade it doesn't recognize the system fan anymore and gives an error message during startup, the fan is running though, I checked repeatedly.
What do you think? 800 Bucks possible for this thing? I really would love an iMac.
Regards,
Ahmed

Agreed. I think he can get these price for the components...topgunn said:I would also gut it and sell the parts. You won't get much but you will get more for the parts than the whole.

You can get Dell Celerons new for $299... I know people that have bought them.
drison said:I've seen Dell deals as low as $350(USD) for a P4 2.8, 80gig, 512, cdrw, free printer and free 17" lcd.
Lancetx said:I must admit, I've certainly never seen THAT good of a deal from Dell!
Chrispy said:Haha. That would be one heck of a deal. However, with rebates and the savings codes I could see being able to get close to that. My P4 3.0 with 17" LCD was upgraded from P4 2.8 and I think I paid $549 after rebate and that was with the 17" ultra sharp display.
Lancetx said:I was going to say...I thought their 17" LCDs went for around $200 even on sale, so $350 for one with a P4 system as well seemed to be a bit of a stretch.
