I got an iSight today and want to attach it to my "old school" Cinema Display.

Is that sticky mount gonna ruin it?

Gary you always get all the gadgets, oh how I envy you.

To your question. The sticky stuff shouldn't hurt it. I've seen the iSights mounted on dozens of plastic cinemas. My friend upgraded to an aluminum ACD and his iSight came off fine of the old display.

I'm just a sucker for an Apple Store. :p

I had an 'old school' Cinema display when I first bought my PowerMac and stuck my iSight to it. Then I decided to take back the display due to pixel anomolies and I was able to get the iSight off with no problems.

17" is like $400-$500 now. I saw a refurb. 17" on apple.com for $499 the other day.

No worries here - had one on mine for a year, took it off and moved it to an iMac with no issues.

OK, I installed it. :DOh, I forgot to tell you. It's necessary to use a razor blade to get the adhesive off the display if you remove it.

Just kidding :p

I was watching a DVD and just had the iSight all ready to go, and a couple of glasses of Pinot later, up it went. Looks great. I want to try and put together a four person conference on night to check out the four way vidoe conference
if anyone is game.

Now I just have to get a mac mini and an iSight for my dad's birthday so we can chat more often.

I've got a PB, but didn't like the mark the iSight clamp left on the outer lid. MacMice have a pretty nifty flex stand but I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet, so, now my iSight is taped on top of a can of Rosarita brand refried beans! It actually works pretty well.

Mine came off too easily actually. Apple had to send me a new mount because the old one decided that it didn't want to stick anymore. There i was watching CSI and i heard a "kerplunk" looked over and my isight was dangling off my desk held only by the firewire cable. It still works fine, but i went over to Mac Mice and got the Sight Flex stand, i love how versatile it is :D
