I want to update and eject my iPod using Automator. Now this sounds easy enough. All i do is: 1) create a workflow; 2) Use the Update iPod action; and 3)Use the Eject iPod action.

But there's a problem: I get a Finder error message saying the iPod is in use; the reason being iTunes is updating it.

Is there a way around this with Automator? Maybe the current version of Automator doesn't support if statements. If iTunes is done updating then...

This sounds real easy. Someone probably came up with a solution already a long time ago without Automator. I'm just a little behind and don't know. Someone please point it out.

thanx.

I'm not all that familiar with Automater yet either but one possibility is using "pause" to wait several seconds (decide whatever is appropriate - five seconds sounds about fine) between the two actions. That should probably give enough of a window that the iPod would be done updating.
