what are .rar files and how can I open them? Are they mac os 10.4 compatible?

Doesn't the built-in BOMArchiveHelper extract the .rar file when double-clicked? If not download (the newest version) of StuffitExpander, and that should be able to take care of it...

.rar files are compressed archives, simular to .zip, .gz, .bz2 etc..
