Anyone have the stats, or a good story about the 2010 mba vs the 2011?

Was going to add a 11 in air to the stable....found the closeouts of the 2010's

11.6" MacBook Air 1.6GHz, 4GB RAM, 128GB Flash Storage, NVIDIA GeForce 320M for about $400 less than the 2011.

What are you thoughts?

What are your computational needs?
Anyway, here are benchmarks for all Macs, including the 2010 MBA and 2011 MBA: http://www.primatelabs.ca/geekbench/mac-benchmarks/

The 2010 MBA has the better integrated graphics processor (IGP), but slower CPU and the backlit keyboard is missing. Otherwise, there is not much difference between the two models.

Maybe have a look at Advanced Search to find similar threads:

Personally, I'd go with the 2011 MBA, because of the superior CPU. Unless you're a serious gamer I don't think you'll notice the difference in GPUs and if you are a serious gamer then the MBA may not be a good fit for your needs.

If you're not into specifications, then save the money and get the 2010, you will not be disappointed. It's exactly what I did. I don't really use my computer for anything but web browsing, music, movies, writing and light photo editing, and the 2010 is perfect for it. I got mine for around 800.00, and used the extra cash to buy the AppleCare, a sleeve, a bag and some accessories (USB Ethernet Adapter, External Hard Drive).

----------

BTW, mine is exactly what you're looking at buying.. 128SSD, 1.6GHz, 4GB RAM. :D

I'd go 2010 as well. Use that $400 extra to bump up the SSD from OWC or to score some weed. My gf has the 11.6" 2010 and loves it. It is quite a capable machine. The processing power hit is not that big/important for most users. I have a 2Ghz i7 in my MBP and notice very little difference from my 1.86Ghz core 2 duo in my 13" MB air in 90% of tasks. This, of course, is partially attributed to the SSD though.

assuming we're looking at the same site, the 2010 13" ultimate seems a better deal IMO, screen size/processor/larger ssd/allegedly absurd battery life (compared to 2011)

The CPU and the backlit keyboard in the 2011 would rule out the 2010 for me.

I had both the top-end 2010 and 2011 11" MacBook Air and the 2011 is worth it. The only thing that's better on the 2010 is the GPU, and only slightly. The 2011 brings the Sandy Bridge CPU (which will keep pace with new programs for several years), and the backlit keyboard. Note, too, that refurb 2011 models are now available.

This ill be an additional machine to my collection. Thinking the 2010 may be the way to go.

I just go an open box 2011 13 for 900...otherwise I'd probably pick up the ultimate 13" for 1149 if I didn't care about the backlit keyboard
