Can one stop the gamecenter friends requests?

As the title says, is it possible to stop the massive load of gamecenter friend requests? I'm getting allot of these on a daily basis, and it's rather annoying. I'd like to keep it down to people I know.

So, any ideas?
 
Turn off public profile in account settings?

I don't get, have never gotten what you describe.
