Earphones turn off on Ipad 1

Can anyone help me figure out how to stop the earphones on my iPad 1 from turning off? I listen to music "Pandora" online music, and when the iPad screen goes to black after a couple of minutes, the music turns off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jon
 
I have the same problem using the Sirius app. The only solution I have found is to to restart my iPad and that fixes it everytime. I should also mention that this isn't really a common problem for me but it happens from time to time. I just assumed it was from not restarting very often but who knows.

That may be true about the connection being disabled when the device is locked but I know for a fact my music will continue to play when the screen goes black and the device is locked.
