View Full Version : Any idea why the MacRumors Front Page won't show?

Hi guys,

Pretty straightforward problem which I'm guessing has a "well, duh" solution...

Every other web page I visit over the day shows up just fine including the forums for MacRumors but when I visit Macrumors.com or click on the front page, mac blog and iOS blog tabs I just get a completely blank page.

Any idea what gives? I'm running the latest version of Safari and Lion.

thanks

You could try clearing the safari cache ( from the menu at the top of the screen)

^^^If that doesn't work, try flushing your DNS.

1. Open up a terminal window (Located in /Applications/Utilities).
2. Flush your DNS cache with the following command: dscacheutil -flushcache
3. Type logout and press the 'Enter' key to close the window.

I'm always wary of posting advice on terminal....My paranoia tells me it could end in tears! I shall leave that to you DG'S and above! :)

Ok, but this is a rather straightforward and common command.

Ok, but this is a rather straightforward and common command.

I have a few friends here that I FaceTime a lot, and I'm happy to take them through terminal talking face to face. Like you say, an easy one, but when it comes to heavy duty stuff, it's all to easy for typos to creep in ( especially with my typing skills)

Strange.

Two things:

1. Can you post a screenshot?
2. Safari Preferences -> Extensions. Can you try disabling all extensions and see if that helps.

OK, I tried everything suggested in the thread.

It seems the culprit was an extension called "macrumors minimal". I disabled it and everything is fine now.

Thanks for the help, guys!

(and arn, I would have posted a screenshot but aside from the menu bars and tabs, the area where you actually see the webpage was 100% blank)
