The only change here is the processor speed... (though it seems likely enough)

i'd picture a 60, 80, 120 GB HD line, with the RAM being 256, 512, 512.

i really dont see Apple maxing out the RAM as a base config.

Why doesn't anybody ever mention the superdrive when talking about imac upgrades? An 8X4X24 Cd burner is slow. I've had a 16X10X40 for almost 2 years now in my peecee. Apple needs to upgrade this drive quickly. Just my two cents. ;)

Hmm. I'm actually impressed with the fact that Apple is totally ditching the 15" monitor so soon. It seems to me that they should keep a lower end model (one that could sell for under $999) at least until after the holidays- It'd be perfect for a gift- esp. with that Dell all in one piece of garbage on the market. Apple'd sell loads of 'em. Casual users don't really need a bigger monitor and it seems that's who Apple is after with their "switch" commercials.
Honestly, I can't wait until that 19" model comes out (as I'm not a casual user!:D )

Unless theyr'e not having widescreens I would assume that the base model will come with a Combo drive like the emac

Any word on prices? Or, even better, price drops on the current models (yes I know they were just dropped, but you can't blame a guy for dreamin')?
