So I watched "Pirates of Silicon valley" on TNT this past weekend. I didn't even know the movie was on TV, or that it was made period. It gave me some interesting information that sounds true, and a better understanding of what the producer "thought" happened with the relationship of Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs.
I liked the movie, and it gave me LOTS more respect, and love for the work WOZ did back in the day. I had no idea that the Macintosh group was pitted against the Apple II group. That really was sad to watch! :(
The only downside is, now when I watch real footage from Steve Jobs, I imagine him in an ER episode!
What’s wrong with me?!?

I saw the movie too (not this weekend, though.)
After watching it I liked Mr. Gates a lot more than Mr. Jobs :(
I've always liked the Woz :)

Some of the facts were fudged, but in general, the story of Microsoft was funnier. I love the part where Bill Gates had to buy an OS just to give to IBM, which of course we all knew, they all became billionaires because of Gates vision.

I saw the movie many years ago. Found it to be very interesting. Had Steve been a little more mentally sound, we could be in Microsoft's position today.
I don't get TNT.
Wish that the movie would come out on DVD. Would like to see it again.

You ought to read "iCon." Really goes into depth about all of the development into the Macintosh, Lisa and the Apple II.

The only downside is, now when I watch real footage from Steve Jobs, I imagine him in an ER episode! Not too long after the movie originally aired (a few years ago, now), Steve was supposed to make an appearance at some Apple event and Noah Wylie (as Steve) came out instead as a gag.
It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but I do remember how impressed I was with Wylie's portrayal of Steve Jobs.

When I saw it, I remember watching ER that week and it was the episode when Carter talks proudly about his new iPod. Gave me the heebie-jeebies. :p
I checked out the video tape from my local library. AFAIK, it's not on DVD. They need a part II, with a big fat ogre playing Ballmer. That would be cool.

I watch it quite often on my computer. I had it ripped to Divx not to long ago.
The part with the bulldozer and the car is the best. :p

That was funny, I watched that keynote (thanks to a link on Macrumors) the day after I first watched pirates.
Here is the link to the video in question (http://mod.rdlab.carnet.hr/hr/carnet/rdlab/conf/apple/event1999.mov)
iGary,
I am seriously thinking about buying that book, I hope a movie is created in relation to that book down the road! I need to see Noah acting as Steve again :)

:confused:IIRC, Noah Wylie came out at the very beginning to do his thing. It looks like this video picks up after that, when the "real" Steve comes out to give the keynote. Don't know if there's some other source for video of the Noah Wylie bit...

I'm pretty sure that it is out on DVD, because I rented it, and I don't have a VCR

i remember reading that that book was really fictitious. And that Steve was really pissed about it and was trying to Ban the publisher or something, I forget..Anyway, ya that book is supposedly not accurate...But I never read it so I don't know.

I saw it in my computer maintenance class and will be buying it shortly on DVD. I loved it, although a few points were slighty false....but the bulldozer was funny...and I never knew Jobs could get so mad, and I never knew the Lisa was named after his daughter....but regardless I STILL believe Jobs is a GENIUS. :D

I didn't know much about Woz before I watched the movie. Then, I was just like "DUDE! portrayed so much the cool in the movie" and so I started to google Woz and all his Wozziness.
When I hit 21, I need to buy that man a beer. He's awesome.
