Freeview On An AppleTV?

Is it possible to watch freeview through ATV 1 or 2? Would I have to jailbrake it or what? My freeview box just died and I was thinking it'd a nice addition to my Apple family :)

No.

The AppleTV is an iTunes target only. It doesn't have a built in receiver, nor does it support pass-thru, or video capture.

I live abroad, so to watch freeview i chose the channel through the TVCatchUp app on my iPad. I then send the stream to ATV via AirPlay, not exactly switch on and watch. But better than nothing.

No. It only plays media files from iTunes, iCloud, certain web streaming services and Airplay streams from iOS devices.
