I'm sure these sorts of questions have been asked plenty of times, but with searching, a couple of others that I couldn't find have popped up.

Firstly, I am hesitant to JB my ATV2, I've never JB'd anything, except the PSP (to make it actually usable). I'm not overly worried about it, its just I like it how it is...

BUT! I really, really, want a NAS. Its the perfect solution for everything for me, except that darn ATV not wanting to communicate to it without a iTunes on a computer first. PITA.

My first thought was get a Mac mini Server, plus a thunderbolt DAS... at about 3 times the cost of a kickass NAS. No thanks.

Anyway, questions:

XBMC can allow the NAS to push the data straight to the ATV without computer inbetween, is this correct or am I missing something?

Is there remote apps for iPad/iPhone I can still use? By far the coolest thing about ATV is the fact I can just use that as a remote, anywhere in the house.

Can you make "playlists" still? I love that on the ATV now, I can make playlists of TV series, so I can just fire up the first episode and watch a couple in a row without having to grab the remote again and put it onto the next ep.

Does XBMC communicate to iTunes at all, or is it completely self contained with its own folders for media?

Can I still fire up iOS on the ATV when I want to?

Can I have multiple ATV's with XBMC accessing the same data at the same time (with bandwidth warranting it)?
Cheers guys.

I would like to know a few of these Qs as well. Been looking into a JBed ATV2 as my home media solution.

That's what I understand from research.

From looking around, there are a few, search the app store and I found a couple.

Thanks that answers a couple of Q's :)

Anyone got any experience in any of the others? Just trying to flatten all worries before spending a small fortune on the NAS I want, only to find it doesn't do what I want...

I've just got the ATv2 this weekend so a bit of fresh experience =)

Hardware:
1. ATV2, initially on 4.3
2. Lynksys router
3. WD ShareSpace NAS (8tb);
4. MBP

Obviously having a 8TB NAS I wanted to hook it directly to ATV + I do love XBMC.
So my NAS is wired to the router, so is the ATV2 (for speed purposes only).
ATV2 upgraded to 4.4.3 and jailborken (tethered =( ).
Latest XMBC nigh build installed on ATV2. HomeShare enabled on MBP.

As a result - XMBC streams easily all the stuff from the NAS (just add it as a source) + from the MBP when it's on.

Theoreticly ShareSpace would work with ATV2 anyways as it has the iTunes server, but in my case it's disabled from the very begininng as WD's CPU is not the best one and iTunes server takes way to many resources...

Out from many alternatives for media players found out that ATV2 is the cheapest and best one for my purposes.

Hope this helps.
