I recently replaced my MBP running Leopard with a new one running Lion. So I wanted to share a folder on an external HDD connected to the Lion via Firewire ... so using System Prefences I shared the folder as I used to do on my Leopard MBP... job done eh? Er.... not quite...

No-one can connect to the share - my Lion MBP doesn't even show up in Finder on another MBP running Snow Leopard as well as a Windows 7 machine. Neither machine can see my machine on the network at all. I've tried switching the Firewall on and off on the Lion but no difference...

Why doesn't this work? It was so simple with my old machine!

TIA for any pointers/help!
