Ok here is the deal ive got a buddy's 60gb ipod video (fat one) and he is relly on a budget.
Question is: can i replace the currently busted 60gb hard drive with a 30gb one? He just uses 15gb 20 tops so i figured why pay for the 60 gb when the 30gb is half the price.
Will it work? Will the 60gb ipod video accept the 30gb hard drive?
Thanks!

it'll work. but why bother to buy a hdd that's probably over 5 years old? - HDDs are way more fragile then flash drives. I'd get a second hand nano of 16 gb (4th gen) ~100 bucks on ebay, so google or ask around and you'll easily find one for >80.

Its a brand new in original package 30gb samsung hard drive.(i would never consider a used one since it will have a way shorter life span and idk if the owner dropped it) And its only $30. He dosent have $100 for an ipod he has other expences and he needs more than 15gb.
Thanks for the ipod advice tho but im asking for compatibility advice on the hd.

the drive connector will fit, but the drive itself will be loose inside the ipod housing. i guess you could shove some packing foam inside or use some duct tape to hold it from flopping around.
