iMovie - Sharing clips between 2 projects

I just imported all the video taken from my wedding into iMovie... all 2 1/2 hours of footage. I have all the clips sitting in a single project (about 180 clips) and I would like to make multiple movies from them (to send to different groups of people.) My question is, can I create another project to use these clips without having to make a copy of all 180 clips?
 
I just highlight the clips needed by Command-Clicking and Edit-->Copy them and then Edit-->Paste them into the other iMovie project.

I don't know how that'll work with huge amounts of clips, as I was doing it with just a few little ones...maybe 5 two minutes each.
