A trickier kind of study would show how HONEST your average P2P music pirate is about his true behaviors and motives. :rolleyes:

In my experience they're always looking for ways to justify getting something from artists without compensating those artists. Honesty is not always part of that justification, even in open discussion.

So I'd consider a survey even less reliable. Some surveys people answer honestly just because they're anonymous. In this case, those surveyed have a reason to slant the stats.
