I know that us Mac users are creative people, so it stands to reason that we've got a bunch of folks in here who are interested in web design, web development, and probably also tinker around with music (Garageband, anyone?) So, with that in mind, I wanted to offer my web application, which I just recently released, at version 1.0:

Audition - Band Website Software
http://www.auditionrocks.com

Built in PHP & MySQL, Audition makes it easy to run the website for a band. I imagine this will help web designers & developers more than it'll help the average band, but it's made for both audiences. Basically, I had been using a custom CMS for a friend's band's website for the past two years, and I hated it, because it wasn't really tailored to our needs. So I put together a list of things that the ideal band CMS would have, and I made it. And that's what Audition is. I won't bore you with features - those are on th website. (Oh, and the first site built with Audition can be viewed here: http://www.oliverband.com)

It's $49.95 to use, or $99.95 if you want installation help, and 3 hours of my time customizing templates (graphic design, HTML, PHP, etc...) I'd be happy to discuss it here in this forum, as well, if you'd like.

Thanks

Awesome! I'm sure a lot of people might start using this. If you are looking for some new icons for the administrative panel, send me a PM or email. I'd be happy to help out.

That would probably be great, in the not too distant future when I'm looking at giving the interface an upgrade. Yeah, as you can probably tell from the screenshots, I'm a better programmer than I am a designer :) (although I do think Audition's interface will stand favorably next to most free or inexpensive content management systems.)

Does it have a section for streaming audio? This is the biggest issue I've had when dealing w/ dj's and bands as clients.

Chicoweb: could you give me an example of what you mean? Audition does let you upload audio files to a site (for a particular track, release, show, or just in general "media" category) but I don't think that's what you mean? Do you mean like the audio players on myspace.com (first example that came to my head), which basically are setup to let you listen to the audio, but give you no way to grab it?

This contrasts directly to the players on indie911.com (which I and my company actually built), which is kind of a short cut - you can listen to the audio on the site, and if you have a browser that can show you the "activity" of a page (basically all external files that are being loaded) you can download the mp3s directly, if you type them into the browser.

Sorry for that somewhat rambling response. As you can probably tell, I'm currently gathering feedback and poking around for new stuff to add to Audition, and so I want to go in a direction that people will find useful.

Thanks to those who've responded with interest. I've created some forums on my site where these questions can be posted (thought it would probably be better to do that than to camp forever on the macrumors forums . :) )

Thanks!

Yah, thats what I mean. I did a dj site a whiles back that included streaming audio and I have to manually code everything to stream properly for each OS for each song. It would be a nice feature (almost dummy proof) for this dj to upload / manage / and stream all himself.

Thanks.

Actually, I think the interface is quite good (I'm a designer who also programs).

Did you create the popup calendar yourself, or did you grab a script from somewhere? I've been looking for something like that, and like the way the calendar looks in your app.

Good job!
