AV Composite Cable - No Audio in Music App

Hello,

I recently bought a new AV Composite Cable and although it works fine it doesn't play any audio from the Music (iPod) App from either my iPad or iPhone 4s through the TV.

Ordinarily I would just think that Apple had designed it this way except that I remember being able to do this last year with an iPhone 3gs and the same iPad but an older AV composite cable.

Is this something Apple have since disable with recent iOS updates or something I am doing wrong?
