iMac/Macbook Air Display

Hi, I have a 2011 MacBook Air with a Thunderbolt port and a late 2010 27" iMac without a Thunderbolt display (I have 4 usb ports, an external display, a firewire, and another random port on the back of the iMac). Does anyone know how I would go about connecting the two to use them as external displays? I think I know how do it from the software/UI standpoint, however I don't know where to begin with cables...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If its the model that allows you to use it as a display for another MDP device, you need a mini displayport cable.
