Lots of new features... I haven't even gone through most of them.

It seems like it's more graphic intensive, but hopefully it'll be worth it.

lots of new features in the reply sections....I really like the font properties now, rather than manual html coding for it....and the smilies on the left margin are a great touch also!

I like it a lot.....way to go arn! :D

I am really liking the looks of this!

I think the new look is fantastic... my only foe is the "browse" button in IE 5.1.2 under OSX... outside of that, though, I am loving it. This really has to be the best set out forum I have ever posted to.

Good improvement! One question though, from the home page how do you get to the Page that has the main forum types on (Hardware, Software, Article etc) without going into a topic on the right hand side then clicking the link at the top of the page.

Dont know if I explained that very well!

Sorry, ignore that last question! I found the link to it!

A couple weeks ago... I commented about the "old" Macrumors forum style...

You didn't have to spoil us this much Arn! Just a color change would have sufficed... ; )

But don't mistake me... I am loving every bit of this new forum ..! :) :o :D ;) :p

And one more thing:

Please remove the limit of smileys we can put in posts!

This is an unexpected upgrade to the existing forums which were great to begin with. THANKS ARN!

That said, why don't you tell us what this is running on. Is it 'powered by OS X' or something?

(This is a rumor site, perhaps you're running on a pre-production G5 :D )

Anyway, tell us a bit about your system would ya?

has anyone noticed that the colors of the smilies have changed since last night?

does this mean all the smilies & other icons will be the muted yellow that we now see?

glad you guys like the new forums...

this server, sadly, is not run on OS X... I've been leasing a server for > 1 year for various web projects and MacRumors happens to be one of them... and it's running a combo of Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP.

As you guys could tell, it handles daily load fairly well, but MacWorld Expo really drags it to it's knees...

As for the smiley's color - I didn't change anything... so not sure what that's about... ;)

Oh, as for the member "stats"... I'm still playing around with names... but Macrumors 6502 does have some meaning...

The 6502 was the chip used in the Apple II and, if I'm not mistaken, the Apple I.

Really like the new forums... impressed me enough to stop being a lurker and register.

I really like all the stats and editing tools... the GMT time thing is cool to, now if it would only pick up the fact that we are currently in day-light savings and therefore at a psuedo GMT+11:cool:

I hope that no avatars are provided by the administrators. I feel that avatars should only be custom ones to really set apart users with 500+ posts (I'll get there eventually). BTW the members page is back up.

There are no provided avatars at the moment. You guys can be creative. Of course, keep it clean. :)

That now when you click a link from a mail message it acutally opens a new window (IE) instead of using one and destroying the previous page?

Nice feature...

thanks for the info regarding my future status...this post brings me to 8 more!!

Arn...

I've noticed in the member list that there are several members who have 0 posts since they registered....have u thought about weeding out the ones who haven't done a thing in the year they've been members to tone the list some so it's not so.....incomplete wouldn't be the right word....but I think u can figure out what I mean? It's a lot to go through when there are pages after pages of members with 0 posts....sort of obsolete to keep them on....just a thought....
