Air capable of handling large Excel files?

Hi guys, new to this forum and OSX...

I am thinking about buying the 11" 4GB Air (2011). One concern: is the Air capable of handling large Excel files (complex formulas, filters, pivot tables, charts, VBA, you get it..). Any thoughts/experiences?

To be honest your main problem is not the Air, which is a fine laptop, but the Mac version of Office. I can only conclude that Microsoft used treacle to code the Mac version of Excel as it chugs with large spreadsheets compared to running on Windows. Small spreadsheets are fine, but large linked spreadsheets with multiple pivot tables runs a lot slower. That having being said the power of the processor and the SSD drive in the Air may help.

Vba should be done through Windows 7. Macros and large workbooks work better in windows.

Yes. It's very capable of handling large excel files. I've posted benchmarks to show how capable it is with over 40,000 rows
