iPod Ipod to new MAC sync?

I killed my old mac (not really old) So I had to get a new one. How do I get all the music that is on my iPod (1200 songs) on to the new macbook iTunes 10? No I did not buy these from iTunes. On a pc you can unhide the folders on the iPod that have the music in them and then down load them to a folder and then drag them into the iTunes. I did try one of the free software and got a 1000 of the 1200 loaded. Now I need the other 200.... and to figure out which ones they are.
