I realize that this is a rumors website, but recently several of the forums especially Hardware rumors and Article discussion have veered off into totally unrelated areas. Perhaps, for the benifit of the users who actually want t discuss rumors, you could make a "General Computing" forum or something along those lines. A general forum for people seeking help with something or just complaining could free up the rumor forums for rumors. Just a suggestion guys.

I agree... I think this site is based on rumors, but a lot of people want to talk about other stuff. But there is really no place to do it, so it ends up in with the rumor threads...

even though I've probably been guilty of replying to some of the above type of threads....I think it might be a good idea to have a forum for complaints and such....after MWSF it did get to be quite hectic in the forums with complaints and online bickering going on...

Most of the off the topic stuff spurs from topic related items, though. I think you just have to accept that in forums like these, same as open group mail lists, people will go off the topic for want of filling in their spare time with no care for others and just to stop things being so serious.

I tought Article Discussion was supposed to be for general discussion?
We have a HW and SW section so why can`t Article Discussion be a general section?

Actually... article dicussion was for articles alone... it has now been limited to article posts and replies alone...

I'll throw up a general forum as there does seem to be enough interest.

If the general duscussion forum is because of so called "flamewars" then dont bother. these flamewars are related to article discussion and hardware discussion, although they contain flames and insults, they also contain valid theoretical points and viewpoints.

Kool new look to the forum arn.

Very good question.
Maybe they havent figured out what to call an over 500 poster.

My Suggestion:

'macrumors get-a-life-er'

No offense Spikey. I'll be there in about a month.

Macrumors Fogey

Macrumors Resident

Macrumors Squatter

Macrumors Stalker

Macrumors AI

I'd like to see :

or

Macrumors certified wizeass

or

Macrumors resident 800lb Gorilla

But of course that would't fit.

Society for the
Prevention of
Cruelty to
Arangutans.

I thought :

Monkey poop vendor

or

Official Poop-monkey breeder

but then I thought it'd be too direct to be funny.

I see a new feature in the users area. we get something called an "Avatar" when we reach 500 posts. Its an icon under our names ... and we get to pick it. or at least as I can tell from the description of it.

eyelikeart is close... he will have to tell us about it when he reaches that point. Im still a bit away from that honor.
