swkotr.ini file help

after a long search I found the file, however, now I cannot open it to edit the line I need to in order to enable cheats. I am new to macs but I know on the pc version I just edited it in notepad then copied and pasted it back into the file but I can't even open the .ini file. what program do I need in order to open it? I am using osx 10.7 if that matters
