I have a neat little setup consisting of a 32 inch LCD, Apple TV 2nd gen., a Philips DVD player all hooked to a pair of these Bose speakers.

Apart from Netflix and Apple movies, I watch History HD, Nat Geo HD, CNN HD among others and really enjoy the AV experience. Like most, I like my picture nice, clean and rich and same with sound ( I am not an unreal bass porn seeker; Good balance of treble and nice, tight, solid, real bass would do.)

Would adding a small A/V receiver enhance the sound and picture (especially on the appropriately encoded movies) in any way keeping in mind these speakers ?

(If it helps, I go HDMI on all connections currently and will do so with the A/V receiver, should I buy it)

Thanks!

The A/V receiver will not do anything for you video quality... but yes with your audio... get a good 5.1 setup and you will notice a huge difference over those 2 channel speakers...
