My next would be a PowerBook unless an iBook comes with a G4 or better processor. I could really use a machine to take to skool or work since I invariably have "another" file I need. Of course, I'd probably forget to take the computer with me. :D

A Cube!:D
But there's no option on there for that.:(
Maybe there should be an 'other' selection.:)

An iBook.

It's cheap and it's portable.

I just got a Dual/Ghz/DDR. I hope to get an iBook very soon.

My next will be a PowerMac, but not until after the next revision. Hopefully the 23" Display price will drop by then as well.

i'd kill for a new powerbook, but it's a little out of my price range. Okay, it's out of my partner's "willing to spend" price range, so i don't get one. one of the benefits of joint finances :P hehe... but we are thinking about a 17" iMac the middle of next month... nothing for sure, but we need a second computer since my powermac died...

I'll buy a new PowerMac when they put a Power4 in it and have true DDR capabilities.

Until then, my old 9600 gets more parts.

My next (first) Mac will be an iBook, but if I was a student who needed a desktop I would buy an 867 through the Apple Developer Connection, add a $1799 22" Cinema and overclock the thing to Dual 1067. Massive computing power for cheap (comparably). Total cost with Radeon 9000 and Superdrive-

$3398.

New ibook. I missed getting the most recent update in June and plan to wait until after the next update. Hopefully including a speedbump and video upgrade

well I'm on my second TiBook...

but I'm debating over replacing this one for a newer PowerBook or PowerMac...

or just biting the bullet and keeping this for the portability...and getting a new PowerMac... ;)

I'm not too sure what I'm going to get, if I want to get another computer any time soon. I think my iBook just needs more memory, and both my Cube and my iBook need some RAM. I don't really NEED anything faster. So I'll probably get a new computer a long time off from now, unless my parents award me a Titanium Powerbook by suprise.

Besides, the money will have to go towards the RAM, -maybe- Microsoft Office v. X, probably an upgrade to v6 of Photoshop, absolutely Mathmatica within four years or so, possibly a scanner, and a fast internet service for 2003.

I'm going to buy a new PowerMac when the new version comes out, but that won't be for a while. However, my wife might want to trade in her pc laptop and get a new PowerBook - that would be fantastic!

everytime I hear you go on about the CUBE...
woooo...ooooooo the CUBE... ;) that's just funny.
i admit they do have a sweetness to them
but what about functionality? aren't the

Anything will be an improvement to a 667 Mhz PIII.
Especially a dual 800 8-inch Cube.
I'm not too concerned about speed right now, when I learn to do some major multimedia stuff, then I'll also buy a Powermac.
Dual 800 should be fine for awhile.:)

my G3 tower has served me well, and in such, I will only buy another powermac, but it will be a loooooooong time. when we can officially say we have the fastest hardware & system avaliable

Not just for braging rights, but I will not go low end, only to need to upgrade in 2 years. I mean it better be a fat cat of a system, unless apple goes the way of the atari....

There were dual cubes?

Or are you considering engineering one yourself like the guy did on xlr8yourmac.com?

Or do they have upgrade cards...

I don't really pay attention to the cube scene...obviously...

I'll probably buy an iBook and a mid-range tower before I head off to college in little under 2 years..

absolutely Mathmatica within four years or so

Are you a student? If you are, get it sooner then later. It definitely is a must if your in programs that need it (like engineering). Also though, if you are going to be in college soon, lake at the program you are going in to. I know that EE and math people use Matlab more than Mathematica, despite the fact I think that Matematica is the best. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Powerlogix has upgrade cards up to dual 800 for the Cube now, they're a bit expensive, but that's the price you pay for style.:p
I'd still buy one if all you could get was a 500Mhz G4 though.

Obsessed? Nah.

beatle888: don't worry, I'll let you know when I get it.
I'll make sure of it.;)

... but what I'd really like is a 14" iBook G4!

Next year I'll get the PPC970 powermac to replace my beloved Cube.

edvniow: well that's one thing the cube has is
style, and lots of it. that's a collectors piece. i
still cant get over the fact that they collect
computers. still i saw a post here about a
LISA macintosh on ebay for $12,000.

A Powermac, as soon as the Power 4 chips are available...and then it will probably be another 5 years before I upgrade again!
