spotting videos

When watching a video/tv/movie etc. it downloads, plays for a minute or two, stops, downloads, plays for a minute or two, then stops again, downloads, etc. etc. etc. What is up with that?

I am on Mac OSX 10.6.8. This happens whenever I watch a youtube, or any video on my mac. I just click on the youtube or video and it plays so not sure what player is being used.

Do you use Safari or Firefox or Opera or what browser?

And do you let the videos actually load? What does the loading bar say?

What numbers do you get via http://www.speedtest.net?

And what does "spotting videos", your thread title actually mean? Have you considered changing it to a descriptive one like YouTube videos stutter (load, play, stop, load, play, ...)?
