backup for my powerbook

My powerbook g4 is over a year old now and I'm thinking about something to use to backup my files.(especially my music files) I've got a 40G Ipod but I would like additional backup.
I was looking at the Lacie 100G drive and found mixed reviews regarding it. Are there other types of ways, perhaps better and faster, to protect data?

Perhaps just a new 60G Ipod photo. But is the something with larger capacity and cheaper besides the lacie drive?

I use a Lacie 160GB porsche-designed external firewire drive to back up my 100GB Powerbook. Maybe not the fastest option, but it works great for me. And they're so cheap I'm thinking about getting another one.

I'm looking at the Lacie drives seriously. The price is right. To get faster they get expensive fast. :(
