Remote app & TV---unresponsive

Lately, about half the time my TV does not respond to the remote app on my iPhone (4s). The dedicated remote that comes with the TV works fine, but the app on my iPhone does not. Ideas? And yes, I've reset the Tv several times, to no avail. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. This is during NetFlix streaming, BTW.
