Just noticed this... screen goes off. but not the box itself. energy savings are set to default. I use usb connections exclusively

I'm sure its due to a process.. but which one. any ideas?

Its not the end of the world.. I can force the box to sleep using the keyboard.

a simple fix I'm sure... but one that is beyond me.

btw.. i already tried resetting the pram and smc to no avail.

I have already been through that first link taking it point by point. and bloody tedious it was too.

the second link is irrelevant. the mini isn't waking up. its simply not going to sleep.. not even momentarily. The light remains steady.

using opt/cmd/eject puts it to sleep immediately.. and it doesn't/hasn't woken up spontaneously.

I've attempted to rule out everything and am left with the processes. I believe its there that the issue lies. but which one?

Fixed.. and managed to scare myself to death in the process. A tale i don't care to recount. But involved a PMU reset.

However.. the mini is now doing exactly what it should. the light starts to pulsate when the screen goes off.
