can you buy a physical copy of lion in a brick and mortar apple store?

I am on leopard and obviously dont want to buy snow leopard just to download lion if you know what I mean, I kind of want to buy it today so I can install it today so apple.com isn't what I am looking for.
 
No. But the USB drive will only let you do a wipe and reinstall if your system is Leopard. You can only upgrade from Snow Leopard. So make sure you backup your data before you install Lion.

Read the rest of the thread. You'll notice that to upgrade from Leopard the installer will only let you do a wipe. To upgrade to Lion, you must be in Snow Leopard.

I respectfully suggest you re-read what you put. The upgrade part is correct, wiping and installing is possible no matter what is or is not on the disk.

In the context of the rest of the thread it is. Pulling that one thing out of the thread and thus out of context causes it to not me anymore. Point of the matter, the original poster's question was answered.

Nothing he said there is incorrect at all. Even with you taking the sentence out of context, the sentence is still 100% correct.
