Yet another city has been filled with silhouettes and other stuff.
Minneapolis has a light rail train going from downtown to the mall of america (about 12 miles/17km). I have not been in Minneapolis recently, but as of Friday, June 10th, at least half of the trains had iPod logos and stuff wrapped around it. When I can upload an image to my web server, I'll show it to you.
EDIT: Here it is, right from my motorola v220 cell phone.

Just for people who are curious, it is at the Warehouse District (Hennepin Ave) Station.

Is the train always blue or is that something special with the iPod promo?

there were pink and yellow ones too, i believe. i think it might be because the last stop is the mall of america where the apple store is.

I'm really starting to be embarrased to be a white earphone toting iPod user. I love my iPod but stuff like this really makes me feel like I'm just part of a marketing campaighn.

Man, I wonder how much that train cost apple?
I'd imagine it wouldn't be cheap, given the scale, inclusion of the windows in the paint job, and the fact they're dealing w/ bureaucracy....
Then again, they say that graffiti artists don't do it where there already is something more than a wall or cheap billboard, and heck, if minneapolis said, hey, you've just gotta repaint over the spraypaint, and we'll call it even... (well, cheap, maybe), that would make sense. Intense, that's what I can say.

Apple should pause from painting trains for awhile and put that money towards a television campaign!

no, I doubt it. It's not apple's medium.
we're all really good at tuning TV out. people are always trying something bigger and better and more different/noticable on TV, because it's saturated, and we're saturated with it. You get a way bigger response if it's in a place you don't expect something so huge and bold.
And, it's huge and bold. That is good.

If that's anything like what they do with city buses around here, it's REALLY annoying to have to look out through those windows! Like peering through a salad strainer.
I always feel like I should get a discount on my ticket if they're going to do that to my eyes and make money off it.

Apple have iTunes/iPod adverts on TV all the time in the UK. We currently have the new ones, rollerskating and the other one I can't remember. They also show them in the Cinema before a movie.

Will Apple ever advertise Mac OS X again? They really should run some TV ads about the worlds best OS. Come on Apple thats how people know their is an alternative to Microsoft!

It's not paint. It's a vynal wrap, just like city busses.

man did i get suckered. Apple told me i won a drawing they had and that they were going to "pimp my ride", iPod style. I felt lucky, especially because i never enter contests so i couldn't figure out how i won. I got my car back yesterday...well, you'll see. Man, i'm such a sucker. They aren't even paying me for this.

:D
You win some, you lose some!
Also, re OS X ads... I suppose they may be holding off to see what pereceptions the Intel thing leads to. Doesn't mean they'll wait until after the change starts (they might), but they might need to know what to react to.

I'm surprised that Apple hasn't decorated some of the subway or trollies here in Boston. Many companies do advertise that way. So far all that I have seen are posters in the MBTA stations and bus stops.
