macOS Set a Spouse name for contact in AppleScript

I have tried two evening now to figure out how to save a name to a contact as a relative with the label spouse. I am stumped. I've searched online just about as long. I can can add about all the other fields, but can't get a spouse added as a relative.
please help,

I am using the "tell application address book"
With the contact as the variable 'theContact'
And the spouse name is 'theirSpouse'
