Comment: A phenomenal addition to the Coldplay catalog. Chris Martin's soft and eloquent voice has never sounded so relevant, and the frenetic percussion that tails the end of the song is pure melodic bliss.

A very good song, one of my favourites on this CD
To me the word to describe the song is "epic".
This is the type of song that would be in a closing montage in a movie.

I totally agree with you and I feel that the bonus track, Till Kingdom Come, would be something played during the credits of a movie.

Mostly, I think Coldplay are dull as dish water - wallpaper music with little imagination. But I like this song because I heard it on the OC before finding out who sang it. Drat.

Shouldn't that say something to you if you judged a song to be likeable on its own merit and then you find out because Coldplay sang it, you now like it less? That just seems kind of silly.

I just feel that Coldplay's ubiquity will be their downfall - when Parachutes came out, it was played non-stop absolutely everywhere. You heard the entire album so much that it blurred into one big coffee-table hugging drone - a problem when an album becomes bigger than the sum of its parts. I'm not that silly that I can't admit a song is okay even when I hate the band :)

Great song. I first heard it in a compilation for Formula One toward the end of it (link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8180039719833124655&q=F1+2005+season) Then while working at the apple store I saw the music video that we installed on all the ipods... very well done and each time I hear or see the video I still get goosebumps.

For the record, with a pitch change to get both songs in the same key, you can play this with Clocks and it's exactly the same.
Kinda sad.

Umm..no, Speed of Sound is the song that has a chord progression in common, and it is only in the verse. I cover this song sometimes when my band plays. I actually combine the two and we call it the speed of clocks. We always get laughs....
For the record, I still like both songs...
