Best camera to get?

i'll soon be in the market for a digital camera, i'll probally have a max of $400. i was woundering what would the best brand, or best camera. I'll be useing it for just hanging out with my friends, but also like to take pictures of nature and such. any info would be greatly apperciated.

Go to http://www.dpreview.com and see what's available in that price range. Remember that street price is usually less than MSRP. Some of the newer 5 megapixel cameras have some nice built in lenses that give you a huge range from wide angle to telephoto.

thanx so much for the link, the site is perfect. many more camera's with SLR features without the price, never knew the variety there is. Definatly glad i posted here, havent been around much since college. hopefully that'll chage over the summer. Thanx again though.
