Sometimes it takes a while for the system to update (or whatever it does). Don't worry, patience is a virtue, you'll get it soon enough.

Good someone metioned it before me :p :o I'm no astronomer but i thought the sun was yellow .....
There are other suns beside the one lighting and warming the planet Earth you know ;)
Just to get a little more anal, I think ''our'' sun is actually more white than yellow, the intensity of it is quite high I believe.
From Google, one of my best friends :p :
The sun is a huge ball of hot, glowing gases that lies at the center of our solar system. It contains about 70 of the 92 natural elements that occur on the earth. The sun is made up of about 75% hydrogen, 24% helium, and just 1% of other elements.
The sun is one of billions of stars in the universe, and it is the earth's closest star. With a diameter of about 865,000 miles, the sun is only medium in size when compared to other stars. While some stars have a diameter 10 times smaller than the sun, others have diameters up to 10,000 times larger.
When you look at the sun and moon as they appear in the sky, they seem to be about the same size as each other, but the diameter of the sun is actually 400 times greater than that of the moon. They only appear similar because the sun is 400 times further away from the earth than the moon!
Just to top things off and make sure we all learn something today, a neat little site I stumbled on that seemed to have some decent content. Here (http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/science/know_l1/sun.html) you go.
Edit: Just like regular photography, the color of our sun can be altered by viewing through different lenses and filters, as shown on that linked page with the sun through x-ray, appearing red.

On the topic of contributions....
Has there ever been discussion over stages of contribution for honorary titles on MR? $25 isn't all that much money....and there is only one value avabilable. Perhaps $25 could get a "demi-god(dess)" title, and $50 could get "_____", and $100...etc etc. I guess those circumstances could be handled on an individual basis, but I would be inclined to contribute more if I would get a special title :D

I agree with you, my point was that if you make giving money more fun (as it seldom is) then I would be more likely to give more of it. I subscribe to tons of shi* it daily life, and waste well over a couple hundred dollars a year on subscriptions to this and that, be it magazine, online news, online forums with special access hehe, etc. It can not be that hard to make a drop down offering $25, $50, $75, or $100 dollars, I'm confident there are people with enough webpage skill to accomplish said task. With the amont of creative juices signed on to MR at any given time, I'm also confident that a few other titles could be created to aid in differentiating the frequent-posting-contributors from the not-frequent-posting-contributors :p
I like my rating, and you know part of the reason I have not contributed is because I am ONLY a 6502 and I want to see some other chip numbers under my name first :p You may think it is a stupid thing to want, but I want it. You can also not instruct me in the usage of my money, and unless MR becomes a pay-only forum, I'll only pay when I feel like it. Again, you can view this as immature, arrogant, stupid, or what have you, but there are a lot of people much 'older' on these forums than I that have not contributed yet, go woof at them why don't ya.
Contributions are voluntary, if they were required it would be a payment more than a contribution. I think MR is a great place, and the adminstration is top-notch. When my financial situation is better I would love to, and will, donate/contribute to MR but for the time being, I'll take the 'cheap' route and just post as a non-demi-god.
All that aside, how do you have 'contributor' as your title instead of demi-god(dess)?

Listen here Mr. 68020 or whatever....I don't see demi-god under your name either so where is the green stan? :D
He selected the perfect section of my post and called it out which in specific his arguement makes sense. Read the entire post and hopefully you see that my purpose was not saying I want a reason to contribute more (I realize I have not contributed) but was talking about it for current/future contributors.
I hope you all realize I'm not mad about this....it's in good fun, at least from my side.

Ditto, you were one of the first people on this forum I recognized regularly.
Yellow almost made the slip with his 'tar change recently. I glanced at the name for some strange reason and was like, wait.
Yellow.....
isn't his 'tar supposed to be EL?
I was so confused.
The mods don't usually throw me when they change theirs'
But that edesign girl, man she's hot, she keeps changing her 'tar, but I always know it's her.

;)Don't want to burst your bubble but edesign is not the girl in the tar. It is actually Kiera Kightley.

Cool! Yeah I used to notice you back when your 'tar video game buy cutting something. Also, Solon stood out to me because I was studying Solon (Greece?) at the time in school.Yeah, Solon stands out to me too since one of my long-term gf's in college lived there. Spent a decent amount of time there - nice town, although some of the people are a bit snobby, IMO. It's a stupid reason but just for that fact wrldwzrd89's posts stand out more to me. Plus, his posts are usually well-thought out - that always helps too! :)
I get my 'tar in about 30 more posts. It'll be nice after lurking and visiting the site for years. I am glad you have to obtain 500 posts for a 'tar - makes it an accomplishment. I wouldn't have wanted to get a 'tar by contributing, which I have. I know some think it encourages spamming and stupid "me too" posts, but the moderation on MR is great and most of that is kept to a minimum.

I agree, and BTW you are one of the few who I've noticed that don't have a 'tar, maybe you're the only one. I remember looking at your name after reading a post (probably cause it wasn't trash). I'm glad I had to work for my 'tar.
I just wonder if any of my posts were ever dubbed spam. As I used to only post about MacBytes articles, and there isn't usually a lot to discuss over there.

Hmm...interesting observation, feakbeak. I haven't noticed any of the snobbiness you noticed in Solon. I agree with your second paragraph 100% - having the 500 post requirement for an avatar combined with the great moderators here encourages everyone to make meaningful, constructive posts.

Exactly. That's one of the many reasons why I like MacRumors - I've been on so many other message boards which are poorly run (if at all) and it's really counter-productive to be a part of them. There are a lot of intelligent members here, and as you said, any "unecessary" behavior is not tolerated. If you could get an avatar instantly, or after only a few posts, there would probably be even more newbies coming on board, only caring about their post count and their "pretty picture" as opposed to actually contributing to the discussions.
(By the way, I was so tempted to reply to your post simply with "Me too". :p ;))

I did too at first glance, but I was already a fan of KK and figured it out quite quickly it was her and I just knew (sadly) should would not be posting on a board like this using those pictures....oh well, edesign can use them and I can pretend it's her, I doubt he would mind the connection :p
I did the same thing with yellow and his tar, since I didn't (sorry) know who EL was, I just assumed it was the poster with a nice photo to use....until I read a little bit deeper and saw the location and sig which gave it all away.
I think it is probably a common mistake among new people (new people being first time seeing a given tar) when users use female tars. Other than the professional quality they I think it is a general reaction to assume it is the poster in the tar because why else would they use a real-life picture?

Yes, however not being able to watch and follow along, it is more of a spoiler thread for me than anything else. Granted reading about FG prior to seeing an episode isn't as bad as being given the ending to a blockbuster movie, however I still prefer to see them for the first time and then discuss them. I can't wait to get home and start watching everything again.

So how long are you in France for, what for, and when will you be home? Just curious. :)
I am in France for a total of 3 months, however quite thankfully (no offense here, I love it, just happy to head home) 2.5 months have passed and I will be leaving in just over two weeks.
I am here for work, a NPD (new product development) project that we had thought we could join internationally between the US and the company here (which my company in the US owns). After working on it for 1.5 months we had a meeting here with some other US-ers flown in, and it was decided that the project is not going to be joint. So, since I was involved and it was planned for 3 months, I am here continuing to help French development out for the remainder of my time.
I will be heading back to comfy Grand Rapids, MI on July 7 (don't hijack my plane please!!!) and then I have to head back to school on the 11th....quite the break I know :(

They don't let you put woodchips on the mini-lawn you get in hell? Or did you not dish-out for that model flat down there?
My reservation is for the single-bedroom (plan to be single there) extremo-sexy flat with mini-lawn allowing 2, but no more, lawn-ornaments (because those are the true definition of evil!). Nice little place, I really liked the photos, but the virtual tour is what sold me on my plot

Ssssssss yeah...... you see, by lawn is kinda full right now, i've got 160 lawn gnomes which I thought I was ordering on a good deal, turns out I got ripped off royally.
Go figure, I guess you can't find good deals in hell either.
So anyway, nope no room for woodchips on my lawn.
Though I really wish I could have some.

In a bucket!? There is this invention called a "wheel barrow". I realize this may be hard to grasp, but here it goes. It is essentially like a very large bucket atop an axle and wheel which you can transport easily mass quantities of woodchip mulch (or what have you) and then "dump" the "package" at the "drop off". Your employer will not only be happy by your efficiency, but also driving the little beast is just plain fun!
So this yard of your's seems pretty nice. Care to take a picture of those little paths? I would be interested to see a little more of what you are describing.

Well you see the pile of mulch was on my driveway, and to get to the yard is a set of 3 stairs, then a set of 4 stairs right after a tight corner.
Try taking a wheelbarrow full of mulch down some stairs and we'll talk ;)
Also my employer was my mom.
I'd take pictures of these paths, but alas for the most part, they are overrun by weeds this year.
And we only have film camera's at my house.
(good ones though, don't worry)

Well actually I do take wheelbarrows full of stuff (not just woodchips) up and down stairs I thank you :p. My employer is my father (at times....less often recently) and he is more concerned with speed and efficiency than a few spills in the grass or on the stairs I guess.
Oh well, he is getting old and I impatient, I hope this year is the last for woodchips

My mom's pretty chill about that stuff so she didn't mind. My mom would care more about the spilling than the efficiency, and come to think about it, I don't think I'd be able to use the wheel barrow on those stairs. Too narrow at the turn.
