Hi!

Was messing around a bit with automator.

I created some apps useful to me, containing apple scripts and shell scripts with passwords.

Now I believed that if you save a workflow as ".app" it will be safe. But I just discovered that you can still open it with automator and read the passwords...

Is there any way to protect an automator created app from being viewed?

Best Regards,

No - even an AppleScript saved as run-only can still be read. Passwords should never be stored in plain text.
