I was upgrading the wife's ip3 which has the grandfathered unlimited data plan, to a Samsung Galaxy S II(its her choice not mine) I noticed three new offerings on the data plan options.

$29.99 unlimited data with 200 messages

$33.99 unlmited data with 1500 messages

$42.50 unlimited data with unlimited messages

(edit had wrong amount and forgot to mention I have a $15% discount)

Just for fun I put in an iphone 4s for the upgrade and the above options disapeared. Has anyone seen this before?

What the... 😕

Very strange (and pisses me off that the options aren't available to iPhone users).

Thanks for the heads up though OP, good information to know 🙂

Are you able to screenshot this? Not that I don;t believe you, but so I can show this to a rep if they give me a hard time asking about it. I could save myself about $10 a month on my personal line.

By the way, the SGSII is a phenomenal phone. IMO she is making just as good a choice as if she went with the 4S, though many on here would rather die than admit that.

This could be for LTE phones only. Not sure

Is she buying the Skyrocket or the stock SII? Therein could be the difference.

The SII, I called ATT and asked what this plan was. Was told it was a grandfathered plan no longer available. Either way I'll probably go for the 200 messages.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, the stock SII's HSPA+ 21.1 and the Skyrocket's LTE in AT&T's eyes are both "4G", even though neither of them actually are.

So it wouldn't really make a difference if it was the Skyrocket or the regular SII.

In any case, that is odd that it shows up yet AT&T told you it's no longer offered. Then again, this IS #ATTFail we are talking about. What an utter mess of a company.

I also tried the Samsung Note, which is not available yet, but was only offfered the 1500 messages. So each phone gets different offers.

LTE plans are different.
I bought a Skyrocket last week.
The Smart Phone Personal plans are for HSPA+ 4G phones. not LTE phones.

I noticed when I upgraded, my grandfathered unlimited plan is not displayed on my account online even though every rep I spoke with said it's on my account.

That's really weird. At first I thought maybe it was an AT&T Wireless plan, but I'm pretty sure all of those have been killed off, maybe something they are testing?

I thought about the testing as well. This whole thing was a surprise, since this is my first adroid phone(wife's actually) but I get to play with it, I'm thinking this might be AT&T's way of getting support for their android phones.

No, this has to either be hidden stuff they are trying or a mistake.

Seems like it only pertains to LTE Smartphones. I settled for the 200 text with the unlimited data. I wonder how long until they pull the texting plan from me, and say that it was a mistake.
