I bought a 3GS of eBay, Vodafone will only unlock it for the original person who bought the phone, I'd be using it on Vodafone ok but having moved house I need to change carrier as have no signal. Any ideas guys?

I've done a few with no problems and only takes 24 hours.
Make sure user has good feedback

You could try their online unlocking form http://campaigns.vodafone.co.uk/UnlockCodeRequestForm/
There were reports in the past of people getting their iphones unlocked via this method even with incorrect details.

I would go with the asking the owner to get it unlocked. I would even pay the small fee involved to do so.

Would he be able to do it straight away? I think here in Ireland you have to be on a pay monthly plan for 6 months then they'll unlock it for you.
I filled it in, got a reply that it will be unlocked with 48hrs😱 Be interesting to see if it actually happens, didn't even have to pay anything
